    During one of our past adventures we ran a customized tour to Tanzania for 3 “Kiwi” families from New Zealand. As part of the tour we visited the Usambara Mountains, a beautiful chain in the northeast of the country and had the pleasure of visiting the women’s pottery group of a small village, Mtae. Here, the craft of making and firing clay pots has been a tradition practiced for generations, not only to use, but to sell and generate income. The women make the pots by hand and harden the clay by baking it in coal heated pits in the ground. More »
