This 15 day special itinerary will take you trekking through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world.
Experience a spiritual awakening as we trek through Sherpa villages and encounter the daily life and warmth of the people destined to live in the Himalayas.
Visit the bustling local market and Buddhist monastery in Namche and head up past stupas, prayer stones, water-driven prayer wheels and sacred lakes. Climb to the renowned Kala Patthar to catch a glimpse of Everest where the silence is broken only by creaking glaciers.

- Kathmandu – Flying into Kathmandu is an unforgettable experience with the Himalaya spread out before you. …You will be met by an Original Trails representative at the airport on arrival and transferred to your hotel. There are no activities planned for today. Rest up and relax for the trek ahead

- Lukla-Phakding -The mountain flight into Lukla is spectacular and the landing is an exciting beginning to the trek ahead.…One end of the runway is 60 meters higher than the other and we land in the middle of the Himalayas. Our trek begins from the airport. Heading through pine and cedar woods along the Dudh Kosi river to Phakding, you will pass through many small villages and where you will encounter your first yak caravans carrying trekking and equipment and supplies. These wonderful beasts, creating mobile roadblocks, or virtual avalanches on downhill stretches, are a feature of all treks in the Everest region. It is also possible to see musk deer, Himalayan tahr and, if you sit quietly on the river banks, water rats. After 2 hours or so, arrive in Phakding.

- Day 3
- -Namche – The day begins with a steady walk following the Dudh Kosi River through beautiful valleys, crossing the river on suspension bridges as you go. …. After lunch, you will begin your first real uphill of the trek, a 2-3 hour trek up to Namche Bazaar. Namche is the administrative capital of the region, historically it was the staging point for trading expeditions to Tibet and its Saturday market remains an important event bringing traders from villages a week’s walk away.

- Namche acclimatisation day – An acclimatization day allows for an excursion to Thame and a chance at your first glimpse of Everest from the Hotel Everest View. …Intricately carved mani stones mark the path to this large valley with a picturesque gompa on the hillside overlooking the valley. Namche is great to explore, and you can even let everyone back home know how you are doing from the many internet spots around town

- Day 5
- Tengboche
– Leaving Namche, the path leads up through the town and follows the valley around for some unbelievably beautiful scenery! … The Dudh Kosi is far below and Thamserku, Kantega, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Everest rise in front. Blue pine, fir tree and rhododendron forests, mani walls, chorten and suspension bridges across the river make this a lovely walk. The final two hours uphill to Tengboche are tiring, but the morning view from Tengboche is worth it and is justifiably considered one of the most magnificent in the world. Tengboche Gompa, the cultural and religious center of Khumbu was founded in 1912 and has been destroyed and rebuilt twice, as the result of an earthquake and fire. Visit the monastery when we arrive and be part of a Buddhist ceremony

- Days 6 & 7
- Pheriche – Stone steps lead down through rhododendrons, birches and conifers where, due to the hunting ban, almost tame pheasants are regularly seen. …At the bottom lies the small village of Deboche and its nunnery. Rising above the tree line the trail enters alpine meadows of scrub juniper and, in summer, a profusion of wild flowers. The next day is an acclimatization day can be used to hike up to Dingboche, the only place in the region where barley is grown where the mountain views are outstanding. Another option is to hike to Imja Khola and to Chhukung, a small summer settlement from where the views of Island Peak (6189), Lhotse, Ama Dablam and the fluted ice walls flanking the Amphu Lapcha pass are one of the highlights of the entire trek

- Day 8
- Lobuche – The day starts with a climb up to the plateau which lends magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. …Alpine meadows and summer yak pasture lead toward the teahouses of Duglah, the end of the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier where there is a steep, tough climb. At the top of the moraine, there are monuments to climbers and sherpas, including Scott Fisher from the infamous Everest disaster in 1997 From here it’s a steady walk up through the valley to views of Pumori, eventually arriving at Lobuche, where you will settle in for the night.

- Day 9
- Gorep Shep – From Lobuche, the trek begins up through the sparse but beautiful landscape with the massive wall of the Khumbu glacier on the right. …After two hours trekking through the moraine you will reach Gorak Shep at 5,160m. After an early lunch you will continue the trek to Everest Base Camp to your ultimate goal! The route to base camp follows the Khumbu Glacier with its intriguing 15-meter-high seracs of ice, a feature unique to Himalayan glaciers. Return to Gorak Shep (5 hour round trip) and rest for the evening.

- Day 10
- Periche -Today, it’s up before dawn for the climb up Kalapatar hill to 5545m. With the weather on your side, this view is the most spectacular on the trek. …Not only will you be in awe as you come face to face with the almost mythical giant of Everest you will have an incredible view of the surrounding Himalayan mountains including Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and the towering Pumori. After decent, it’s breakfast at Gorak Shep before heading back down to past Lobuche to Pheriche for the evening.

- Days 11 & 12
- Tengboche-Namche – Descending the Imja Khola, you will hike to the town of Pangboche, the highest permanent settlement in the area.… It’s gompa, the oldest in Khumbu, is built over the hermitage of Khumbu’s saint Lama Sanga Dorje. The juniper trees on either side are said to have sprung from hair cut from his head and a rock-like projection is a piece of mountainside he pulled out for protection one day. After, it’s the hike back down through Debuche to Tengboche where you will spend the night. The next day you’ll continue down the trail to Namche Bazaar, where you will spend the night.

- Lukla – Leaving Namche, you will retrace the trail back down through the warmer valley and thicker air to Lukla, …where you will celebrate your achievements with a group dinner and a hot shower. Congratulations!

- Day 14
- Kathmandu -We will leave the beautiful Himalayas with a flight out of Lukla back to Kathmandu and take one last look at this magical place. … Arriving in Kathmandu we are transferred back to our hotel where we will shower and have an afternoon tour of Kathmandu. If you still have energy you can do some last minute shopping in one of the many markets before our farewell dinner.
