About this adventure

We created this family adventure to capture the essence of this amazing little nation by combining the country’s past triumphs and tragedies with a taste of the present hope and future. Discover the real Cambodia in the warmth and charm of its people, the serene countryside of Battambang and the chaotic character of its capital, Phnom Penh. Experience the splendor of Angkor Wat and contribute to positive changes with an initiative helping a farming community outside of Siem Reap.

NOTE: On every trip, Original Trails donates a well on behalf of each family for a rural community in need.

Meals: Welcome Dinner

Day 2

Siem Reap (Angkor) – This gentle cycle ride gives you the chance to explore the hidden wonders of the Angkor complex, travelling along magical jungle paths and dirt roads only accessible by bike. This unique route specifically was designed to avoid the throngs of tourists, and it’s become our most popular temple tour. In-between the main sights, there is often not another soul in sight.

Day 3

Siem Reap - Journey out to a local village where you will spend the day.  Please note this is a real village not a replica set up for tourists. Activities will depend on the time of year, family needs and goings on in the village. On each tour you will also have the opportunity to plant a fruit tree for your host family. This will provide a future food and potential income source.

Day 4-5

Battambang – Today, drive with your tour leader to Battambang, a city full of wonderful colonial-era architecture and historic old pagodas. The surrounding countryside offers some of the most picturesque rice paddies and rural scenery in the country. Experience and array of temples, ride the famous "bamboo train" and the chilling killing caves of Phnom Sampeau. On day 5, Travel to Phnom Penh stopping at  canal-side town of Pursat and Kompong Chhnang,

Day 6-8

Phnom Penh – We explore “the hidden pearl of Asia” with a guided tour of the city stopping at sites of interest along the way, including the spectacular Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and taking a sobering walk through Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), where there are stark and moving reminders of Cambodia’s recent tragic past. The next day Embark on a colourful journey of discovery to a rural village, learning key historical and cultural facts about the area and its people along the way.

Day 9

Departure day –Before your flight home and  depending on your interests, we will take you to authentic Cambodian markets such as Psar Orussey, Psar Dam Go or Psar Tuol Thom Phong (Russian Market), and to the more secluded back streets where individual stores sell jewellery, antiques, and clothes.

Tour Price  $1090 USD per person (based on 4 person group)

"Hi Aaron and Aparna We are now back in Singapore after a fantastic adventure in Cambodia. Once again we loved all the stuff that took us off the beaten track. Sophea did a great job, he has such a lovely big smile. One of the highlights was the visit to his village and his Mum cooking us lunch after the ox cart ride, his family made us feel so welcome in their very humble abode. Thanks for another incredible trip!"
